October 7, 2014 – The Jackson Anchor Initiative has announced Allan Hooper as the new Executive Director for the organization.
The Anchor Initiative, led by Jackson’s private sector, is focused on working with the City of Jackson and other public and non-profit organizations to continue the transformation of Jackson’s downtown. The goal is to attract and retain a young talented workforce that will be needed for the future by Jackson area businesses and organizations.
The initiative, originated by Consumers Energy and Allegiance Health, has now expanded with participation from 17 other Jackson-based businesses, the three local colleges, the Jackson Chamber of Commerce and the Community Foundation.
Josh Burgett of Michigan International Speedway, serving as chair of the Anchor Initiative board, stated “Allan’s past involvement with the Anchor Initiative will now carry through, on a full time basis, to complete the elements of the initiative’s key Live, Buy and Innovate Local missions. The board and our anchor institutions are excited to have this important downtown initiative led by such a strong, local leader.”
Hooper retired from Consumers Energy, where he held the positions of statewide director for community economic development as well as public affairs manager for Jackson.
