Impact Hub, a coworking space in Kirkland, Washington
By Al Hooper
Here’s a blog item and YouTube video from the folks in Pella, Iowa, a small town that introduced a coworking space called Veel Hoeden (Dutch for “many hats”) http://www.veelhoeden.com/. This is an interesting concept to bring elements of an increasingly diverse entrepreneurial economy together. Co-working marries a business community with a shared space. Unlike in a typical office environment, those coworking are usually not employed by the same organization… they work alone, but together! A “home away from home” for home-based professionals, independent contractors, or people who travel frequently for their work, coworking allows a productive alternative to kitchen tables, basement offices, coffee shops, and the front seat of a car for those who are interested in the community and synergy that can happen from working with talented people in the same space.
